It has always been a childhood dream to work on Star Wars. It almost happened for me a few times over the years starting with a chance to work on Episode 1 in 1996. For a variety of reasons it did not work out until winter 2018 when I started up on Episode 9. The brief was that JJ Abrams wanted a very ‘original’ Star Wars look so I approached the design process using traditional media and techniques that artists like Joe Johnson would have used in the mid 70s. Markers and bond paper have always been a favorite of mine so this was a really fun time! Sadly, the team I was on got cut only a few months after I started so the work I did only went to the rough concept stage. This gallery shows designs for a reverse Y-Wing Training Fighter where a master pilot sits in one cockpit and the student in the other. The master pilot is a famous hot-rod ship builder.
