The paintings in this section are created from life using a laptop computer. Many of them are from my book on this subject LUMINAIR
. This type of painting is all about capturing a certain light and image at a specific moment in time. The digital paintings are done quickly on site, and are rarely refined or reworked later. My goal is to give the viewer a glimpse of the place or subject I saw when making the picture in an honest and spontaneous light. There is little or no photography involved, no previously taken image from which to sample color or to manipulate forms. I find this technique enormously refreshing and exciting with endless new possibilities. The resulting artworks are both interpretive and photo-like, suspended somewhere between photography and traditional painting.
These paintings represent some of the different places I have been over the last few years and the interesting interpertation that the medium gives.
