art
I have had the pleasure of working as a concept artist and designer in the entertainment industry for my whole adult career. There have been so many projects it would be hard to attempt to give any sort of overview of this body of work. One general experience I have had is the good fortune of working with creative people who also are really nice.
The range of mediums and tools I have experimented with has always kept me on my toes. Along with many other artists of my generation we started our careers learning the traditional skills of analogue media only to have our well refined world turned over with the maturation of digital tools. This has been a great experience but I do sometimes miss the good old days of mixed media on vellum :)
For the past 10 years I have worked mostly with Rhythm & Hues Studio in Marina Del Rey. It has been a great experience because they offer such a diverse set of challenges in the work they have for me. One month I will be doing concept art for a futuristic movie pitch, the next month I will do character design for a cute cuddly critter like Garfield followed up by sculpting an anotomically accurate model in clay. The diversity of work suits my need for new experience well and keeps my head free for the personal work I spend so much time on outside R&H.
